Deals on solar gear

What deals are available?

It’s that time of year again… Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, etc.

If you’re like me, sifting through all sorts of stuff for sale in many different places is daunting. To help you, I took a moment to share some interesting deals you may want to check out. These are all devices and components I have personally used, and found them good quality, and can recommend.

The following deals seemed especially noteworthy. And as always, check out our guides or courses if you’d like to learn more! The free solar cheatsheet is jam packed with useful information.

Portable Power Stations

These all-in-one portable units are great for powering and charging small devices like smartphones, laptops, flashlights, and any small A/C device. All you need is a solar panel (or 2), and an adapter to be able plug them into the Jackery (see below).

They aren’t big enough to power your furnace or air conditioner, but the larger ones, if it is sunny, can keep your fridge or freezer going. They can be charged with solar panels, an A/C outlet, or a cigarette lighter in your car. This makes them very flexible and useful!

Batteries

For those building a system with components, you can get panels, charge controllers, inverters, cables, fuses, batteries, and more. It doesn’t make sense to buy flooded lead acid batteries any more. Lithium Iron Phosphate are cheaper, last longer, lower maintenance, weigh less, and more. They are better all around. See our analysis if you’re curious to learn more.

Solar Panels

The portable power station makers sometimes offer panels for their units. These tend to cost more, and have proprietary connections. If money isn’t an issue, they can be great as they often fold up, and are very portable. If budget is important, you’ll save a bundle by purchasing panels separately. Here are some noteworthy deals:

If you do decide to go with non-Jackery solar panels, using a Jackery Portable Power Station, then this adapter will let you plug in any panels with MC4 connectors.
